My name is Kaushi (she/her) and I am the proprietor of Upcycled Wood located in Hespeler, Cambridge.
I have always had 2 main passions in life, information architecture and giving old wooden furniture new life. In my previous full-time career, I was a passionate and accomplished Information Architect with over 25 years of experience in Enterprise Information/Content Management Systems (ECMS). With a PhD in hand, I leveraged a strong foundation in information architecture, project management, and change management, where I excelled at leading design, development, and implementation of information systems that meet business user needs and support organizational goals for corporate and the non-profit sector.
Now, I want to pursue my second passion of upcycling wooden furniture (full-time) that I did as a hobby over the decades. Upcycled Wood is a registered Ontario business which officially began in November 2024.With this new business/career change, I will work with you to give your much-loved wooden furniture a sustainable edge by rescuing discarded furniture left in your shed, garage, or home that you don’t want to end up in the landfill. I will work with you to transform your much-loved wooden furniture (i.e. chair, bookshelf, chest, dresser, tall boy, vanity, tables, armoires, and much more) into exquisite and one-of-a-kind pieces that are as beautiful as they are eco-friendly. My passion for craftsmanship shines through in every detail. You will experience the joy of owning furniture that not only enhances your space but also contributes to a more sustainable future.
